Role Summary
As a Boat Skipper at Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island, you will be responsible for marine operations and the safe movement of guests across the water. Working within the Minor Hotels portfolio, you will operate boats, support guided activities, and help ensure each guest enjoys a smooth, safe, and high-quality experience.
Key Duties
- Operate and steer a range of boats in line with maritime safety rules and Minor Hotels standards.
- Carry out regular checks and basic upkeep to keep vessels performing well.
- Deliver excellent guest service during marine experiences such as tours, fishing trips, and water sports.
- Put guest safety, comfort, and satisfaction at the center of every trip.
- Follow safety procedures closely, run safety briefings, and maintain a secure environment for guests and crew.
- Track weather conditions and use sound judgment to decide whether marine activities can proceed safely.
- Design and run routes that are safe and scenic, while factoring in weather, guest needs, and time limits.
- Use strong local knowledge of the surrounding waters, landmarks, and attractions to enhance the experience.
- Coordinate clearly with resort operations teams to keep marine activities running smoothly.
- Provide clear, engaging commentary during guided outings.
- Manage marine equipment properly and ensure all gear remains in good condition.
- Support guests with the correct use of water sports equipment when needed.
Requirements
- A valid boat skipper licence along with the necessary maritime certifications.
- Hands-on experience in a skipper role with a solid record in marine operations.
- Strong boat handling, navigation, and seamanship abilities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with guests and colleagues.
- Knowledge of local marine laws, rules, and safety practices.
- A guest-oriented approach with a strong focus on service quality.
- First Aid and CPR certification will be considered an advantage.
