Job description
Position Overview
The Auckland Museum Trust Board seeks a committed member to join its governance team and contribute to the stewardship of one of Auckland's premier cultural institutions. The Auckland War Memorial Museum - Tāmaki Paenga Hira - plays a pivotal role in sharing New Zealand's history and heritage, particularly that of Auckland and the Pacific region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in financial oversight and governance to ensure robust fiscal management and identify commercial growth prospects.
- Supervise the delivery and success of major capital projects alongside strategic asset management efforts.
- Support initiatives that promote arts, culture, and heritage outcomes benefiting Auckland's community.
Professional Expertise Required
- Expertise in audit and risk management, capable of delivering strong financial governance, optimizing value for money, and leveraging various revenue opportunities.
- Proven experience in overseeing or managing capital renewal and asset management projects, particularly large-scale renewals underway at the museum.
- Desirable background in the arts, culture, or heritage sectors with insight into funding landscapes and key stakeholders, preferably coupled with financial or asset management experience.
- A strong passion for advancing Auckland's community and cultural wellbeing.
