BMS Commissioning Engineer

Role Summary

This full-time hybrid position is based in Doha and combines on-site work at customer premises with some work-from-home flexibility. The selected engineer will handle the commissioning, testing, and validation of BMS installations, including field devices, controllers, and integration with HVAC, lighting, and other building services.

Key Duties

The role includes reviewing engineering drawings, control schematics, and technical documentation; configuring and programming BMS controllers; and running functional and performance checks to confirm that systems match design intent and client expectations. The engineer will also identify and resolve technical issues, work closely with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors, and prepare commissioning records, test packs, and handover documents. Support for client training and project handover is also part of the job, along with maintaining safety, quality, and industry compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical and Professional Requirements

A strong electrical engineering background is essential, along with hands-on knowledge of BMS platforms and building-services integration. The role requires experience with electrical testing, including control panels, field devices, and communication networks used in BMS environments. Previous work as a commissioning engineer is important, especially in planning, carrying out, and recording commissioning activities for BMS or similar systems. The candidate should be confident troubleshooting hardware, software, and communication faults, and should be familiar with BMS software, PLCs, network basics, and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus. The ability to interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and construction drawings is required. Strong English communication skills are needed for reporting, coordination, and client-facing discussions. A relevant engineering degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related discipline is preferred, and BMS or automation certifications would be an advantage. The candidate must be willing to work on-site in Doha, travel to project sites when needed, and adapt to a hybrid work arrangement. Attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team are expected.
