Job description

Role overview

Aspect Biosystems is hiring a proactive Bioprinting Co-op to join a cross-functional CMC team working on the creation of 3D human tissues. These tissues are being developed for in vitro drug testing and for implantable, cell-based therapeutic applications. In this position, you will contribute to the design, production, and evaluation of 3D human tissues intended for pre-clinical use or as therapeutic devices, using and refining the company’s microfluidic bioprinting platform.

Application timing

This opportunity will stop accepting applications on July 13.

Responsibilities

Your work will involve supporting the development and assessment of bioprinting processes and tissue devices for therapeutic use. You will also help with tubing design, optimization, and testing for closed-system workflows across different applications. Additional duties include preparing biomaterials for tissue-development studies, running morphometric and shelf-life assessments on newly bioprinted tissue implants, and helping manage laboratory equipment and supplies so manufacturing activities run smoothly. You will contribute to in vitro development work focused on tissue health and function, including ML training support and bioink preparation. The role also includes building study plans, drafting experimental reports for stakeholders, and keeping thorough records in line with Good Documentation Practices.

Education and experience

The ideal candidate is a student currently enrolled in biomedical engineering, cell biology, or a related program. You should bring a solid background in physics or mechanical engineering, along with an interest in microfluidics and 3D printing. Experience with cell biology methods and principles is expected, as well as hands-on wet lab exposure that includes 3D printing, cell culture, and report/documentation work. The company is also looking for someone who can solve problems creatively under difficult constraints, communicate clearly in writing and speaking, listen actively, and tailor communication to different audiences. Strong attention to detail, process discipline, and a commitment to high-quality work are essential.

Compensation

The posted hiring range is CAD 3,750 to CAD 4,000 per month. Final pay will depend on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Candidates who exceed the stated requirements may be considered for compensation above the range.
