BIM Modeler - Building Drafter

About the Role

The BIM Modeler is tasked with developing, revising, and maintaining engineering designs and 3D models to ensure structural drawings match project criteria. Utilizing BIM tools like AutoCAD and Revit, the role focuses on creating accurate models, coordinating design data, and helping the project team visualize and align the design intent across various construction projects. The position emphasizes adherence to project timelines, quality guidelines, and collaboration among architects, engineers, and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and continuously update BIM models to ensure precision and alignment with evolving project requirements.
• Produce preliminary, construction, and final as-built drawings using BIM software, accompanied by detailed design documentation for all project phases.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, architects, and project managers to facilitate effective coordination throughout project stages.
• Keep skills current by learning and adapting to the latest drafting and BIM technologies.
• Develop and revise comprehensive structural plans and drawings based on sketches or inputs from team members.
• Prepare drawings for reproduction ensuring compliance with standards and timely distribution.
• Calculate required material quantities and estimate associated costs, updating materials lists accordingly.
• Explain drawing details clearly to construction or production teams and modify designs as necessary in response to feedback.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years experience in a related role.
• Holder of a Diploma in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Proficient in BIM software, specifically Revit and AutoCAD.
• Understanding of construction workflows and project management principles.
• Excellent communication skills conducive to multi-disciplinary collaboration.
• Capability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail with the skill to detect and resolve conflicts within BIM models.
• Familiarity with BIM standards and procedural guidelines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently under minimal supervision.
