Job description

Role overview

This position focuses on building Airtel’s broadband franchise network in identified markets. The role is centered on creating momentum in under-penetrated broadband territories, especially across tier I, II and III towns, by coordinating launch readiness, onboarding local cable partners, and supporting rollout execution. The Business Development Manager will regularly travel to shortlisted cities and drive pre-launch activities from partner identification through activation.

Key deliverables

  • Identify and shortlist city clusters suitable for expansion.
  • Study market potential and share rollout inputs with the network planning team.
  • Find, onboard, train, and manage LCO partners, including billing support and new customer acquisition.
  • Support home-pass rollout in approved clusters and help validate each network element through testing.
  • Train LCO partners on Airtel systems, applications, and operating processes.

Skills and working style

  • Strong ability to execute plans effectively.
  • Comfort with change, structured thinking, and decision-making.
  • Good stakeholder coordination and partnership management.
  • Capability to work across multiple geographies and handle a large partner base.
  • Clear and effective communication.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with sound financial discipline.
  • Market planning capability.
  • Negotiation ability for challenging situations.

Education and experience

A full-time graduate degree is required, with an MBA or PGDM preferred. The role expects at least 2 years of sales experience, ideally in telecom or FMCG.

Business context

The broadband market in India is described as having significant room for growth, with current wired broadband penetration far below global averages. The opportunity is presented as substantial because of the large base of cable and television customers, the presence of many local cable operators, and the need to expand homes broadband through partner-led execution.
