Role overview
This position sits within Qatar Duty Free’s food and beverage front-of-house team at Hamad International Airport in Doha. The bartender is expected to deliver a polished guest experience while preparing and serving cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages to the required standard.
Qatar Duty Free is one of the world’s largest duty-free destinations, featuring more than 90 boutiques and value retail outlets, along with over 30 restaurants and cafés across more than 40,000 square meters.
Key duties
- Welcome guests, help them choose drinks, and serve beverages promptly with a consistently high level of hospitality.
- Keep the bar visually appealing by preparing signature beverages and promoting daily specials.
- Support junior team members by demonstrating service steps and reinforcing consistent service standards through training and example.
- Follow local food and beverage regulations related to the legal drinking age and alcohol service.
- Make sure FSSC compliance paperwork is completed correctly so sanitation standards for premises and equipment are maintained.
- Capture guest feedback and pass complaints to management to help improve the guest experience.
- Suggest new mocktail and cocktail ideas that can improve the guest experience and support sales growth.
- Carry out stock checks on a weekly and monthly basis, including counting, ordering, and recording items to maintain supply and avoid shortages.
- Maintain accurate wastage records and escalate any differences to management to support profitable operations.
- Follow cash-handling procedures carefully, bill guests correctly, and help avoid cash variances.
- Take on any other related duties assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate should hold a high school qualification and have at least 1 year of job-related experience.
Skills and working style
The role calls for strong guest focus, good communication, attention to detail, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving ability, and a solid understanding of restaurant and hospitality operations. A basic grasp of commercial performance, financial control, and food safety and hygiene standards is also important.
