Overview
The Barista is entrusted with crafting and serving quality beverages and food items while ensuring outstanding customer interactions. This position requires maintaining store cleanliness, adhering to food safety protocols, managing payment transactions, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere in the café.
Primary Duties
- Warmly greet customers and deliver professional, friendly service.
- Accurately record customer orders and efficiently process them.
- Advise customers on beverage options, food offerings, and ongoing promotions.
- Address customer questions, concerns, and feedback promptly.
- Prepare a variety of coffee and tea beverages according to brand standards.
- Serve food items following established preparation methods.
- Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and taste in all served products.
- Monitor the freshness of ingredients and report any shortages.
- Keep the coffee bar, seating areas, and workstations clean and hygienic.
- Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
- Clean and maintain equipment such as coffee machines and grinders.
- Assist with inventory control and replenishment of stock.
- Accurately manage customer payments via POS systems, including cash and digital transactions.
- Maintain detailed transaction records and handle cash reconciliation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain smooth operations.
- Support colleagues during peak busy times.
- Engage in training and activities aimed at continuous process improvement.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of high school or equivalent education.
- Barista training or formal certification is advantageous.
- Previous experience in cafés, restaurants, or customer service roles is preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Understanding of coffee preparation methods and café workflows.
- Ability to multitask in a rapid-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining product quality.
- Basic proficiency in cash handling and POS operations.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team and maintain a positive demeanor.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
- Capacity to stand for prolonged durations during shifts.
