Job description

Role overview

As a banquet server, you’ll help deliver a smooth and high-quality guest experience throughout events by providing attentive, professional service from setup through pack-down.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of banquet spaces by arranging tables, chairs, linens, and place settings in line with event requirements.
  • Deliver food and beverages to guests in accordance with service standards and presentation expectations, ensuring orders reach tables accurately and on time.
  • Engage with guests politely and professionally, responding to questions and requests while looking ahead to guest needs wherever possible.
  • Keep tables and the service area tidy by clearing used items, topping up drinks, and maintaining an orderly banquet environment.
  • Coordinate closely with other team members such as servers, bartenders, and event coordinators to help events run efficiently and successfully.
  • Follow all company procedures, safety rules, food handling standards, and alcohol service requirements.
  • Handle guest issues quickly and professionally, escalating concerns to management when needed.
  • Assist with closing duties after events, including removing table items, packing equipment, and returning materials to storage.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in banquet service or a comparable hospitality position is preferred, though not essential.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities, supported by a warm, professional attitude.
  • Comfort working in a busy, fast-moving environment and managing multiple tasks at once.
  • Good attention to detail and a proactive focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on event schedules.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry trays, tables, and other event equipment as needed.
  • Food safety certification and alcohol service training, such as TIPS, are helpful but not required.
