Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for the Trust’s dedicated mask fit tester. The successful person will serve as the main contact for all matters related to respiratory protective equipment face fit testing, carrying out testing in line with HSE guidance (INDG479). The role requires formal training and qualification in quantitative face fit testing, together with substantial practical experience. Testing will take place across multiple Trust locations and may occasionally be scheduled outside standard working hours to support a wide community-based workforce.
Alongside fit testing, the post holder will coordinate appointments, work with team leaders and individual staff to arrange times and venues, and manage the appointment portal. The position is flexible and may also involve wider support for the logistics team, including communication with staff and service users, contact with the Trust parking service, support for the Trust emergency female sanitary products programme, and other duties as needed.
Main duties
- Organise the fit-testing timetable so it matches Trust demand.
- Keep accurate records of outcomes using paper files, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Check records to spot staff who need periodic retesting or alternative mask testing.
- Assess staff to confirm suitability for FFP3 respirator use and ensure the correct respirator size and style are chosen.
- Track and replenish respirators, test solution, and other supplies needed for fit testing.
- Oversee fit-testing equipment, make sure there is enough available to deliver the service, and coordinate calibration of Porta Count machines.
Working style and additional duties
The role is based on site and may require travel to different Trust locations. Some testing sessions will be arranged beyond normal working hours to meet service needs. The post holder may be asked to support other logistics activities when required.
Trust offer
- Opportunities to build professional skills and progress.
- An inclusive and supportive workplace.
- A commitment to sustainability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Exposure to work that contributes to important estates decisions within a large healthcare trust.
