Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a Bakery Clerk, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a well-organized and stocked department to ensure an efficient shopping experience.

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards in daily activities.
• Welcome and assist customers courteously and professionally.
• Provide outstanding customer service consistent with Safeway standards.
• Stock and arrange products on shelves.
• Create and maintain merchandise displays following Safeway program guidelines.
• Ensure the department presentation meets cleanliness and operational standards, including product rotation and ordering.
• Manage ordering and inventory control activities diligently.
• Complete necessary paperwork associated with department operations.
• Ensure compliance with backroom operational procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• No prior experience is necessary; full training will be provided.
• Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
• Strong motivation and willingness to work collaboratively within a team.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service capabilities.
• Practices safe and responsible work methods.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, is highly encouraged.

Physical Demands

• Constantly lift items up to 5 pounds.
• Occasionally lift items weighing between 5 and 50 pounds.
• Engage consistently in reaching, standing, walking, and gripping tasks.
• Frequently perform hand coordination, bending, and squatting movements.
• Occasionally crouch, kneel, twist, and climb stairs or step ladders.
