Position Summary

The Vehicle Services Unit ensures compliance with vehicle title and registration regulations under Colorado law, providing guidance and training to authorized agents, the public, and related stakeholders. The Back Office Cashiering Clerk role (Administrative Assistant II) supports the processing of transaction work, cash handling, and document imaging within the unit.

This role is primarily on-site in Denver, CO, but may occasionally require remote work from home. Employees working remotely must establish and maintain a suitable workspace, with reliable internet and secure Wi-Fi connectivity. Job performance, productivity, and policy compliance expectations remain identical regardless of work location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review incoming applications and associated fees to accept or reject submissions
  • Examine documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Validate transaction requests for processing
  • Process and record payments for services including duplicate titles, motor vehicle record searches, horseless carriage registrations, and low powered scooters
  • Handle mail requests related to record searches and secured inventory
  • Reconcile cash drawer and cash receipts to account for all collected funds

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be residents of Colorado at the time of application. To qualify:

  • Have at least two years of relevant experience in general clerical duties and/or cashiering; duties may include providing customer service in call centers or online, data entry, routine use of office software (MS Office, Google Apps), and operation of office equipment
  • Or possess a combination of related education in business administration, accounting, public administration, management, information technology, or similar fields with relevant clerical or cashiering experience equating to two years

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Experience exceeding one year in a complex, high-volume regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated career growth in clerical or customer service roles
  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and adapt to changing work conditions
  • Experience in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Familiarity with Google Suite applications
  • Capability to research complex issues using statutes or job aids
  • Previous audit experience

Additional Requirements and Conditions

  • Must establish residency in Colorado typically within 30–60 days of hire
  • Employment contingent on a successful background check and tax compliance review
  • Potential requirement to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and safe driving record if assigned to operate state vehicles
  • High standards of honesty, integrity, and public trust adherence required
