About the Role
We seek an advanced-level automotive parts sales specialist experienced in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) customers and knowledgeable in automotive systems and store operations. This position emphasizes expert problem-solving for automotive issues, parts sourcing, inventory oversight, and delivering exceptional customer support in a retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver top-tier customer service and resolve DIY automotive concerns effectively.
- Utilize GAS3 selling techniques with walk-in, online, and telephone customers.
- Meet personal and store sales targets and service goals.
- Manage various DIY services including testing, battery replacements, and wiper blade installations.
- Maintain outstanding store presentation and uphold high customer service standards.
- Fulfill key holder duties such as assigning tasks, ensuring safety protocols, and managing store opening and closing operations.
- Support inventory tasks like planogram maintenance, truck unloads, cycle counts, and back stock management.
- Assist in professional services as a backup and maintain store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, and parking areas.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in GAS3 selling for the DIY automotive market.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
- Adept at identifying, locating, and stocking automotive parts.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and inventory systems operation.
- Expertise with POS systems and automotive diagnostic/testing equipment.
- Familiarity with automotive systems including engine, brakes, suspension, electronics, and exhaust.
- English fluency required; Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Mathematical skills for accurate calculations and Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
- Organizational ability with flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to successfully complete parts knowledge assessments.
Experience and Education
- Three to five years of experience in automotive parts sales preferred.
- Proven track record of successful sales and customer transaction fulfillment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- ASE certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical and Work Environment
This position requires standing and walking most of the time, ability to communicate clearly, use hands and arms for handling tasks, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Visual acuity including close, distance, color, and depth perception is necessary. The workplace is primarily indoors but involves occasional outdoor duties with exposure to varying weather and mechanical hazards. Noise levels are moderate.
