Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Automotive OEM Account Manager holds a pivotal role responsible for managing all commercial aspects, negotiations, and deliverables related to assigned accounts. The position demands a self-motivated, results-driven engineer passionate about sales account management within the automotive sector, particularly supporting OEM clients. The role entails cross-functional collaboration involving customers, global headquarters, engineering, suppliers, quality, and manufacturing teams.

  • Serve as the principal liaison between customers and LG’s global headquarters.
  • Oversee programs and projects through the entire commercial lifecycle from sourcing to mass production, including evaluating commercial impacts of engineering changes.
  • Lead negotiations on commercial matters and pricing, including annual cost reduction discussions.
  • Generate and submit quotes, develop business cases, and secure approvals ensuring clear grasp of cost structures and profitability.
  • Collaborate with headquarters to monitor and report monthly revenue, profitability metrics, business plans, and inform leadership about demand fluctuations.
  • Review contracts and general terms and conditions thoroughly.
  • Manage customer setups in internal systems and maintain master pricing records.
  • Maintain and supervise supplier portal activities effectively.
  • Ensure tooling requirements are fulfilled, and accurate invoicing is processed for timely approval and installation.
  • Support supply chain management in ensuring supplier readiness, escalating supply chain constraints primarily affecting launch timelines.
  • Manage requirements across prototype, pre-production, mass production, accessory, and service stages.
  • Lead submission processes for approvals associated with shipping non-mass production materials.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related technical discipline.
  • At least six years of experience in account management within the automotive industry.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for customer visits and business meetings with a valid driver’s license for local travel.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Previous account management experience with an Electric Vehicle Tier 1 supplier.
  • Familiarity with supplier and customer portals such as GM SupplyPower.
  • Knowledgeable about managing commercial issues including pre-production components, contracts, purchase orders, pricing, tooling, engineering changes, and supply chain development.
  • Highly self-driven and results-oriented with a proactive approach to complex tasks.
  • Quick learner who adapts well to company culture and processes.
  • Strong communication and organizational aptitude.
  • Capability to understand and anticipate customer needs, propose and advocate solutions.
  • Proficient in collaborating with customers and internal teams to meet all deliverables.
  • Skilled in risk identification and communicating concerns to relevant parties.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and capable of working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
