Job description
About the Role
Scotia Auto Glass is looking for a full-time Auto Glass Installer / Apprentice to support mobile windshield replacement, stone chip repair, vehicle prep, and day-to-day van organization. This is practical, hands-on work involving vehicles, tools, glass, and direct interaction with customers.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn the trade properly. Previous auto glass experience is an advantage, but applicants with backgrounds in automotive, body shop, construction, mechanical, maintenance, equipment, or other hands-on trades are also welcome. The most important qualities are reliability, punctuality, manual skill, and the ability to follow a process carefully.
Responsibilities
- Support windshield removal and installation work
- Assist with stone chip repair jobs
- Prepare glass, primers, urethane, tools, and other materials needed for the job
- Cover and safeguard customer vehicles before and during service
- Take off and refit parts such as wipers, trim, mouldings, and cowl panels
- Maintain order in the work van, tools, and supplies
- Interact with customers in a professional manner
- Use a phone or mobile device to record job notes, capture photos, and communicate work details
- Develop auto glass installation skills and procedures over time
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Access to reliable transportation for commuting to work
- Availability Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Willingness to travel occasionally during the day to HRM
- Ability to lift and safely handle auto glass
- Comfort using basic hand tools
- Comfortable working around customer vehicles
- Ability to follow instructions and safety practices
- Reliable, coachable, and professional with customers
Who This Role Suits
This position may be a strong match for someone who enjoys hands-on work, prefers working with vehicles and tools instead of desk-based tasks, takes pride in precise and tidy workmanship, follows directions carefully, and is looking for steady weekday employment while building a practical trade skill.
Work Location and Schedule
This is not a relocation opportunity, a casual labour role, or a short-term assignment. Candidates should already live within a reasonable daily driving distance of Lunenburg or Bridgewater. The role is based in the Lunenburg / Bridgewater area, with occasional support travel to HRM. Work is mobile and carried out as an auto glass service.
Pay and Bonus
Pay is $19 to $24 per hour, depending on experience. A retention bonus of $1,500 may be available for the right full-time hire and would be paid in stages after probation is completed successfully and employment continues. Bonus eligibility depends on attendance, reliability, performance, keeping a valid driver’s licence, and remaining in good standing at the time of payout.
How to Apply
Applicants should include a resume along with a short note covering the following: the town they live in, whether they have a valid Class 5 licence and reliable transportation, whether they can work Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, whether they are comfortable with occasional day travel to HRM, and what kind of hands-on work experience they have.
