Role overview
This remote contract position is for an Australian English Language Expert who will contribute to the training of next-generation AI systems. The work centers on improving the quality of language data so that models learn from accurate, natural, real-world examples. Prior AI experience is not necessary; strong subject-matter knowledge of Australian English is the key requirement.
Primary duties
- Check machine-produced English transcripts and refine them for correctness and linguistic quality.
- Read transcribed material aloud in a clear, natural Australian English accent for audio collection.
- Work from a quiet setting to produce clean audio without needing professional recording gear.
- Help improve AI language datasets so they better reflect everyday Australian English usage, phrasing, and expressions.
- Coordinate with the client team and share observations that can improve transcription and audio guidelines.
- Carefully inspect text and recordings for mistakes, inconsistencies, and quality issues.
- Follow confidentiality rules and data security practices at all times.
Required background
- Native-level fluency in Australian English, both spoken and written.
- Strong understanding of Australian English pronunciation, phonetics, and diction.
- Ability to identify transcription errors and correct them quickly and accurately.
- Clear speaking voice and confident delivery when recording audio.
- Comfort working independently in a quiet, low-distraction environment.
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on linguistic accuracy.
- Ability to use standard laptop audio recording tools; no studio setup is required.
Preferred experience
- Experience in audio engineering, voice acting, voice artistry, or call center work involving voice training.
- Exposure to transcription, annotation, or language data projects.
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on clear and precise expression.
