The role combines deep research, sharp analysis, and direct client engagement to help customers navigate complex challenges and make better decisions.

You will regularly connect with clients through meetings, virtual sessions, sales support interactions, and Gartner events to share recommendations, present ideas, and strengthen Gartner’s reputation as a trusted advisor.

Key responsibilities

  • Generate new ideas and strategic viewpoints that help clients respond faster and more effectively to their needs.
  • Perform detailed analysis to uncover the root causes behind client challenges and reshape thinking where needed.
  • Help set the direction for insight positions across the analyst team and contribute leadership to the broader research agenda.
  • Bring independent, challenging perspectives to internal stakeholders that can influence future research priorities.
  • Track market developments, changes, and emerging trends to create actionable guidance for clients and vendors.
  • Deliver practical advice through both virtual and in-person conversations with clients and prospects.
  • Create and present high-value materials at Gartner events, industry conferences, professional association forums, and client briefings.
  • Support sales and BTI initiatives by acting as a market voice and helping drive client engagement around critical priorities.
  • Review peer content to maintain quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Build strong credibility as a subject matter expert who can represent Gartner’s insights, methods, and strategy.
  • Contribute actively to innovation, ideation, and research collaboration within the insights community.
  • Spot opportunities to improve research processes or create new workflows that enhance service delivery.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Maintain a strong client focus and encourage ongoing engagement with Gartner insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 10+ years in internal audit and/or assurance roles.
  • Strong research and business writing capability.
  • Hands-on experience with SOX compliance and internal control environments.
  • Proven success leading internal audit and second-line assurance work in complex organizations.
  • Strong command of internal control frameworks, including control design, operating effectiveness, deficiency assessment, and remediation planning such as US SOX, the UK Corporate Governance Code, or similar standards.
  • Extensive experience managing audit engagements from planning through execution, review, and executive-level reporting.
  • Experience with GRC tools and exposure to newer technologies such as AI-enabled audit and testing solutions is highly desirable.
  • Advanced analytical ability with the skill to interpret data, spot patterns, and turn frameworks into well-supported recommendations.
  • Confident executive presence with the ability to earn trust quickly from senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, especially when working to demanding deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Comfort presenting to small and large audiences.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding.
  • Deep awareness of the global market, competitive landscape, and broader dynamics in the subject area.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across global, multicultural, and matrixed teams.
  • Fast learner who can adapt well in highly matrixed environments.
  • Ability to represent Gartner’s research methodology and strategy at all organizational levels.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% where needed.
