Job description
Role Overview
The Australian Taxation Office is recruiting Audit and Compliance Officers to join the Compliance and Engagement Group. This role involves assisting taxpayers and their representatives in fulfilling their tax and superannuation responsibilities through exceptional multi-channel service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Applying standard procedures and processes with accuracy under general supervision.
- Collaborating within teams to support collective objectives and deliver outcomes.
- Communicating clearly with taxpayers, advisers, and intermediaries across various platforms, including phone, online, and face-to-face interactions.
- Maintaining professional integrity and high standards in all dealings.
- Providing guidance tailored to tax and superannuation issues.
- Identifying risks and gathering intelligence to assist in formulating treatment strategies.
- Investigating, analyzing, and researching relevant laws, policies, procedures, and frameworks to identify appropriate solutions.
- Supporting team development through knowledge sharing and mentoring (primarily at APS 5 level).
Role Levels
At APS 4, incumbents apply processes with some direction, focusing on quality and accuracy while developing their skills.
At APS 5, individuals exercise greater autonomy, manage complex tasks, improve processes, and contribute to team growth through mentorship.

Positions may be offered in various locations including Adelaide, Albury, Box Hill (VIC), Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Dandenong, Geelong, Gosford, Hobart, Melbourne CBD, Moonee Ponds, Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith, Perth, Sydney CBD, Townsville, Upper Mount Gravatt, or Wollongong.
