ATM Operational Specialist

About the Role

This position sits within an Air Traffic Management project and plays an important part in turning operational needs into a practical data solution for end users. The selected specialist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the development of the TopSky One environment and contributing operational knowledge throughout design, testing, and delivery.

Business Context

This opportunity is within the Airspace Mobility Solutions business, which belongs to the Global Business Unit Land and Air Systems. The division delivers Air Traffic Management, Unmanned Traffic Management, Security, and Digital Aviation solutions for commercial and defence markets. It manages a significant share of global airspace and supports ATM delivery and service operations in the Asia Pacific region from Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves understanding the full TopSky One product set, including ATM, BYPASS, and SIM, while helping improve existing processes and co-engineering methods. The specialist will collaborate with Product Owners, System Engineers, Software Integration, System Integration, and Verification teams to support design, development, automation, dataset preparation, and issue resolution. The role also includes contributing to sprint and product increment demos, preparing artefacts for milestones and stakeholder activities, mentoring engineering teams on operational realities, supporting design reviews and workshops, and assisting with customer contract transition work alongside support teams.

Core Duties

• Carry out co-engineering and co-design activities.
• Support development work for TopSky One.
• Prepare datasets and related material for demonstrations and test activities.
• Take part in demonstrations and provide operational feedback.

Required Background

Candidates should hold instructor-grade credentials or air traffic control qualifications. Strong experience in air traffic control management and ATM dataset preparation is essential, along with a solid understanding of the Australian ATM domain and relevant air traffic management standards such as ICAO, Eurocontrol, and AID. The role also calls for a deep understanding of dataset and adaptation data objectives and their effects, plus the ability to work with stakeholders who have different priorities, function effectively in multicultural and international settings, and contribute within a multidisciplinary integrated team. A proactive mindset, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and motivational skills are also important.

Desired Experience

Additional value will come from simulator or instructor experience, at least 5 years in a comparable role delivering complex software-driven real-time systems, familiarity with tools such as DOORS and JIRA, exposure to ILS processes, and working knowledge of scripting languages such as shell, bash, Python, or macros.

Special Conditions

This position requires eligibility for Security Clearance from the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs at CAT2 level. Occasional international travel may also be necessary.
