Position Overview
Schaumburg Christian School is looking for an energetic, forward-thinking Athletic Director to lead, strengthen, and expand its athletic department. This is a 12-month, on-site role reporting to the School Administrator and overseeing the Assistant Athletic Director, coaches, and athletic workers. The position supports a school culture that develops students into Christ-centered servants and leaders through athletics.
Athletic Mission
The purpose of the athletics program is to honor Christ by using sports as a way to influence others positively, pursue excellence, and strengthen the Conqueror Program with purpose and encouragement.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with school leadership to put athletic policies and programs into practice.
- Monitor and enforce the rules outlined in the Student Handbook and Athletic Handbook.
- Build and sustain a competitive, high-energy athletic culture.
- Plan and coordinate all sporting events and competitions.
- Keep the athletic website and social media channels current.
- Arrange officials for home games.
- Communicate clearly with parents, students, faculty, and others involved in the program.
- Develop and manage the athletic budget.
- Support bus scheduling for school athletic needs.
- Organize team photo sessions.
- Create special opportunities that give teams memorable playing experiences.
- Maintain positive relationships with local park districts.
- Build and sustain connections with athletic conference athletic directors.
- Oversee home athletic events.
- Work with the Director of Facilities to make sure venues are ready for home contests.
- Visit practices and games regularly to support accountability and discipline among athletes.
- Keep coaches updated on policies, contracts, expectations, and related matters.
- Track and oversee athletic eligibility.
- Attend staff meetings and required conference meetings.
- Continue professional learning through clinics and relevant continuing education.
- Seek sponsorships that help elevate the professionalism of athletic programs.
- Plan and implement recognition events such as awards, pep rallies, and special celebrations.
- Support eighth-grade retention efforts, including outreach to eighth-grade students.
- Organize and lead elementary leagues and summer camps.
- Interview incoming students when requested by administration.
- Assist with Parent Action Committee meetings.
- Help plan player growth and development through school leagues.
- Prepare athletic press releases as needed.
- Recruit and interview prospective coaches.
- Take on additional duties as assigned by the administrator.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Prior experience as a player and coach across multiple sports is preferred.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
- Candidates must be a practicing Christian and a member of a church of like faith.
- Applicants should serve as a strong Christian role model.
- Must support the school’s spiritual and academic mission and philosophy of education.
- Strong speaking and writing skills are essential.
- Needs to bring leadership, vision, and a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to connect athletic programs with the wider community.
- Should be capable of organizing schedules and events.
- Ability to support or create effective marketing efforts is important.
- Must be adaptable and comfortable with schedule changes.
- Sound judgment and discernment are required.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills are needed.
- Must be able to collaborate with and lead others effectively.

Supervision
This position reports to the School Administrator and supervises the Assistant Athletic Director, athletic coaches, and workers.
Program Focus
The athletic department’s work includes maintaining athletic eligibility, coordinating home events, building community partnerships, supporting student development, organizing camps and leagues, and strengthening school sports through sponsorships, communications, and leadership.
Extra Duties
The Athletic Director may also be assigned other responsibilities at the discretion of the administrator.
