Job description
Position Overview
The Supreme Court of Western Australia invites applications for the role of Associate to the Hon Justice Musikanth within its General Division. This opportunity is a full-time engagement set to begin in early 2027 for a duration of 12 months, with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research to support the Justice in a variety of complex matters.
- Prepare and provide high-quality written legal work under stringent deadlines.
- Perform administrative tasks related to preparation for Court sittings.
- Attend Court sessions acting as a Judicial Support Officer.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Possession of a law degree or near completion of such a degree.
- Demonstrated strong academic performance; honours or equivalent highly regarded.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Advanced research, analytical, and editorial proficiency.
- Proven organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage workload and meet deadlines.
Additional Information
Experience in this role may satisfy the Practical Legal Training work experience requirements endorsed by the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia. Both applicants yet to be admitted and those already admitted as legal practitioners are encouraged to apply.
Candidates should be aware that the Court’s jurisdiction involves serious criminal matters, including homicide and high-risk offenders. As such, exposure to potentially distressing materials is inherent, though the Court actively works to minimize such exposure and provides support services.
