The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission is an independent tribunal established under the Industrial Relations Act 2016. The Commission oversees matters such as industrial disputes, unfair dismissals, workers' compensation appeals, work-related anti-discrimination claims, public service appeals, and other issues covered by various legislations.
Role Overview
Based onsite in Brisbane City, this full-time position supports Industrial Commissioner Gazenbeek by managing case files and preparing initial drafts of decisions, orders, and reasoning documents. The Associate conducts detailed legal and factual research within the Commission's jurisdiction. Daily tasks include examining submissions and evidence, assisting with listing and case management, coordinating hearing arrangements, documenting proceedings accurately, and maintaining confidential records. The role requires professional engagement with involved parties, legal counsel, and registry personnel to ensure timely and high-quality outputs.

- Strong interest and understanding of industrial relations and employment law along with familiarity with relevant legislation and jurisprudence.
- Mature judgment capable of engaging confidently with senior professionals in both formal and informal settings.
