About Blue Owl
Blue Owl is a major alternative asset manager with more than $315 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026. The firm invests through three multi-strategy platforms: Credit, Real Assets, and GP Strategic Capital. Supported by a permanent capital base, it offers private capital solutions that help businesses grow over the long term while also providing institutional, individual, and insurance investors access to differentiated alternative investments designed to target attractive performance, risk-adjusted returns, and capital preservation. Blue Owl has a global team of over 1,390 professionals.
Role overview
Blue Owl is hiring an Investment Professional for its Technology Growth Investing team. This group focuses on growth-stage private technology companies using hybrid, debt, and equity structures, and also participates in AI GPU and data center financing. The team seeks to back technology businesses with proven product-market fit and clear revenue momentum, using flexibility across the capital structure to support long-term growth. The role is based in the office from Monday through Thursday.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate potential investments by carrying out due diligence and business analysis, then refining investment ideas and thesis development.
- Conduct detailed diligence work, including assessment of target materials and data rooms, market and industry research, financial modelling, financial statement review, management discussions, consultant coordination, and evaluation of third-party reports.
- Build analysis and written memorandums for internal review and investment committee approval.
- Contribute to deal discussions and present findings to the investment committee.
- Support sourcing efforts through market mapping, targeted thesis work, and outreach to companies and early-stage investors.
- Work directly with management teams and external diligence providers during sourcing and underwriting.
- Help manage transaction closing activities, including legal paperwork and funding execution.
- Track portfolio companies on an ongoing basis and communicate updates to the investment committee both verbally and in writing.
Requirements
- 1 to 6 years of relevant experience in investing, investment banking, and/or consulting.
- Experience with growth-stage hybrid, debt, or equity investing is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong ability in financial modelling, research, and analysis, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong interest in how technology, business strategy, and investing intersect.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the maturity to work effectively with founders, CEOs, and investors.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and workstreams at the same time.
- Willingness to work from the Menlo Park office about four days per week and travel as required.
- High standards of integrity and intellectual honesty.
Compensation
The base salary range for this California role is $90,000 to $175,000 per year. Pay will depend on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. The position may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and team performance.
