Associate Product Owner - Lending Model Management

About the Role

Join ASB Bank as an Associate Product Owner on the Model Management team within the Lend & Protect Tribe, based in Auckland, NZ. The position involves supporting the governance, ongoing performance, and enhancement of home loan product models, calculators, fees, and associated processes. Collaborating closely with the Senior Product Manager, Product Owners, technical teams, and business stakeholders, you will ensure that these models and tools are well understood, meticulously documented, and comply with customer, business, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Product Manager and Product Owner in delivering and managing model-related initiatives across the home loan offerings.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation, including traceability and change logs for products, models, calculators, and fees.
• Liaise with stakeholders to capture business challenges, gather requirements, and contribute to solution design.
• Participate in product governance activities such as model assessments, performance tracking, and risk oversight.
• Support sprint planning by refining backlog items, clarifying scope, and preparing deliverables.
• Collaborate with technology, risk, compliance, operations, and product teams to manage and communicate changes effectively.
• Identify and propose process enhancements to simplify model-related deliverables and governance.
• Contribute positively to the squad culture with curiosity, dedication, and a commitment to learning.

Requirements

• Background in product management, business analysis, delivery, lending, operations, or related financial services fields.
• Meticulous attention to detail with the capacity to manage complex information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable navigating ambiguity.
• Proficient in documenting requirements, decisions, and operational processes clearly.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
• Collaborative approach and confident in partnering across multiple teams.
• Interest in home lending, product governance, risk management, model oversight, or process optimization.
• A pragmatic and inquisitive mindset focused on delivering what benefits customers and the business.
