Role overview
Jefferies is hiring an Associate for its London-based UK Investment Banking team, with primary coverage of the Investment Companies and Funds sector. The role gives broad exposure to advisory and capital markets mandates involving investment trusts, listed funds, asset managers, REITs, infrastructure funds, private equity-backed platforms, and other alternative investment vehicles.
The Associate will be involved in delivering M&A, strategic advisory, equity capital markets, fundraising, and other financing assignments across this specialist market. Working alongside senior bankers, the person in this role will help execute transactions, build financial analyses, prepare client-facing materials, and support business development efforts.
This position suits a driven investment banking professional who wants to work on prominent transactions within a specialist and expanding sector.
Transaction execution
- Contribute to the delivery of M&A, strategic advisory, ECM, and fundraising mandates.
- Coordinate diligence work and keep transaction streams moving.
- Create detailed valuation work, financial models, and transaction presentation materials.
- Carry out market, sector, and company research to inform client work.
- Help draft offering memoranda, management presentations, board packs, and other deal documents.
- Work with clients, lawyers, accountants, and other advisers throughout the transaction cycle.
Financial analysis and valuation
- Develop and update sophisticated financial models.
- Carry out valuation work using DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions, NAV analysis, and SOTP methods.
- Review fund structures, portfolio performance, capital allocation, and shareholder returns.
Client coverage and origination
- Assist senior bankers in sourcing and shaping new business opportunities.
- Support the creation of pitch books and marketing materials for prospective clients.
- Track sector developments, capital markets activity, and broader industry trends.
- Build relationships with fund managers, institutional investors, listed investment companies, and industry advisers.
Team contribution
- Coach and support Analysts in the team.
- Help uphold strong execution standards and high-quality deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with sector, product, and international teams across Jefferies.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of academic achievement is required.
- Applicants should have 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, equity research, or another related financial services role.
- Good understanding of M&A, equity capital markets, and valuation techniques is needed.
- Experience across financial institutions, asset management, investment companies, REITs, infrastructure funds, or alternative investment businesses is preferred.
- Proven experience contributing to transaction execution is important.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capability is expected.
- Advanced skill with Excel and PowerPoint is required.
