Job description

Role overview

This position sits on the International Growth team at MARA and focuses on evaluating, structuring, underwriting, and completing global expansion opportunities for the company’s digital infrastructure business. It is a high-responsibility, transaction-focused role with ownership across the full deal lifecycle. The Associate will work closely with the Vice President of Growth – International to assess new geographies, shape investment theses, and move transactions from initial sourcing through closing. The role requires strong analytical judgment, the ability to build sophisticated financial models, and the confidence to present strategic recommendations at an executive level.

The team approaches Bitcoin mining and broader digital infrastructure as a worldwide growth opportunity. Its work combines disciplined analysis, inventive transaction structuring, and strong execution standards to support MARA’s expansion into international markets. Relationship-building with governments, developers, co-investors, and strategic partners is central to the function, along with a data-driven view of risk-adjusted growth potential.

International deal sourcing and underwriting

  • Take full ownership of the end-to-end underwriting process for international digital infrastructure transactions, including structuring, financial analysis, diligence coordination, and closing support.
  • Construct and maintain detailed, multi-case financial models to assess expected returns under different capital structures, power inputs, regulatory environments, and market conditions.
  • Refine and test investment cases, then present conclusions and recommendations in polished materials suitable for board and senior leadership review.

Market strategy and analysis

  • Perform in-depth research on international markets to identify the most attractive regions for expansion, with attention to regulation, energy supply, political risk, and competitive dynamics.
  • Create market entry frameworks and growth plans that support international priorities and capital allocation decisions.

Cross-functional deal leadership

  • Direct transaction teams across finance, legal, operations, engineering, and development to keep execution aligned and disciplined across every stage of a deal.
  • Manage diligence workstreams with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining accountability and keeping timelines on track.

Executive communication and presentation

  • Prepare investment memoranda, strategic analysis, and presentation decks for executive leadership, boards, and external partners, translating complex analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Represent the company’s international growth strategy in external discussions, negotiations, and stakeholder meetings with credibility and clarity.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Finance, Economics, Business, or another relevant discipline.
  • Between 3 and 6 years of experience is required in investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, project finance, or another transaction-heavy role with direct deal execution experience.
  • Exposure to data center investments, cross-border transactions, international markets, or emerging market infrastructure is preferred.

Preferred capabilities

  • Proven success leading complex transactions from origination through closing, including structuring, diligence, negotiation, and execution.
  • Comfort coordinating multiple workstreams and cross-functional teams in a fast-moving, deal-oriented environment.
  • Advanced financial modeling experience, including project finance, LBO, DCF, and scenario analysis, with the ability to build, review, stress-test, and present models to institutional standards.
  • Strong quantitative judgment for evaluating returns, capital structures, and risk across diverse global markets and asset types.
  • Ability to interpret macroeconomic, regulatory, and competitive information and turn it into practical strategy and investment logic.
  • Sound judgment and curiosity when assessing geopolitical risk, regulation, energy infrastructure, and demand drivers for digital infrastructure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce investment memos, board materials, and executive briefings.
  • Confidence presenting to senior leaders, outside partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead initiatives without formal authority and align different stakeholders around shared goals.
  • Self-driven working style with comfort handling ambiguity and delivering high-quality output in a fast-growing environment.
