Job description
Role Overview
Venture Government Strategies is hiring an Associate in Government Affairs based in Washington, DC. The role focuses on aiding client service, conducting policy research, tracking legislative developments, and supporting government affairs initiatives. Working closely with company partners, the Associate will monitor federal policy changes, prepare materials for clients, and assist advocacy efforts across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Track activities within Congress and federal agencies.
- Conduct research and provide analysis on legislative and regulatory changes.
- Prepare client communications including updates, policy memos, and briefing documents.
- Participate in and produce summaries of Congressional hearings and related events.
- Assist with client meetings, proposal development, and various special projects.
- Maintain systematic records and help with internal reporting duties.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, or a related discipline.
- Have between one to three years of experience in government affairs, Capitol Hill, trade associations, consulting, or federal government roles preferred.
- Demonstrate strong skills in research, writing, and communication.
- Show exceptional organizational abilities with attention to detail.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-energy environment.
