Role overview

Belk is expanding its early talent recruitment team and is looking for an Associate Campus Recruiter to help shape and hire entry-level talent. In this role, you will support end-to-end campus recruiting, event planning, and early talent program execution while helping create a strong experience for candidates and program participants.

What you'll do

  • Own the recruiting process from resume screening and first-round phone interviews through candidate follow-up, feedback coordination, offer discussions, and closing candidates.
  • Develop and nurture lasting relationships with target universities, including faculty, professors, administrators, and student organizations.
  • Use current industry practices and early-career recruiting strategies to improve campus hiring efforts.
  • Partner with the Early Talent leadership team to design a recruiting approach tailored to assigned schools.
  • Share ideas for creative ways to strengthen Belk’s employer brand, attract strong candidates, and meet early talent hiring targets.
  • Plan, coordinate, and attend university events while working closely with the early talent team, HR business partners, campus champions, and business leaders.
  • Track performance against campus recruiting benchmarks and help drive the overall hiring strategy.
  • Support execution of early talent programs, including curriculum planning, leader involvement, development sessions, and social activities.
  • Help manage social media activity that promotes the employer brand and highlights the program experience.
  • Use recruiting and campus engagement tools such as Handshake and internal scheduling systems to manage events, interviews, and candidate communication.
  • Assist with expense tracking and reconciliation for campus events, travel, and recruiting activities, with experience in expense management preferred.
  • Work on a designated hybrid in-office schedule.
  • Be available to travel up to 75% during peak recruiting seasons in the fall and spring.
  • Be able to work outside standard business hours when recruitment or program events require it.

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in campus recruiting, corporate recruiting, career advising, or program management.
  • Strong organizational ability, with skill in prioritizing tasks, managing time, and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfort with problem-solving and event planning.
  • Adaptability in response to changing recruiting and program needs.
  • Energy and effectiveness in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business leaders, career services contacts, professors, and student organizations, including diversity-focused and industry-specific groups.
  • Hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems, ideally Workday, and campus recruiting platforms such as Handshake.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience coordinating logistics and using booking or scheduling tools across multiple stakeholders.
  • A professional approach that reflects positively on the company in every interaction.

Additional information

This role is set up as a hybrid position with an in-office schedule. The job may require travel up to 75% during peak hiring periods and flexibility to work outside normal hours for recruiting and program events. The position also involves supporting expense tracking and reconciliation tied to campus activities, travel, and recruiting operations.
