About the College of Health and Life Sciences
The College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) at HBKU focuses on delivering innovative educational programs targeting health and life science sectors in Qatar and surrounding areas.
Position Overview
CHLS invites qualified candidates for multiple faculty roles at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level specializing in biopsychology or neuroscience. The college offers a dynamic and supportive research environment with strong collaborations including Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) and Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), alongside other Qatar Foundation partner institutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain high levels of research productivity of exceptional quality.
- Provide instruction and mentoring to graduate students.
- Engage in leadership and administrative tasks shaping the college’s strategic direction.
- Contribute to university-wide initiatives via committee participation and community professional engagement.
- Exemplify professional integrity and serve as a positive role model within the university.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in biopsychology, neuroscience, or closely related fields. Candidates with an MD in Psychiatry or research expertise applying machine learning to neurological and psychiatric disorders are highly encouraged to apply.
- Documented full-time university-level teaching experience or equivalent professional experience with a proven record of growth in scholarly maturity and output.
- Significant research record with contributions to the field demonstrated through professional service activities.
Additional Criteria for Senior Applicants
- Demonstrable ability or promise in securing extramural grant funding.
- Experience mentoring junior researchers and fostering their development.
- Proven success in graduate-level teaching, curricular design, and program leadership.
- Comprehensive understanding of academic governance, policies, and research ethics.
