Job description

Position Overview

The Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at UCLA plays a vital role in supporting all aspects of the basketball program, including practice and game preparation, recruiting efforts, administrative duties, and other special projects. This role requires commitment to adhere strictly to the policies and regulations established by UCLA, the University of California system, the conference, and the NCAA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and developing all phases of the sport program.
  • Support practice session plans and game preparation strategies.
  • Contribute to recruiting efforts, helping to identify and bring in top collegiate athletes.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to the basketball program.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level is preferred.
  • Experience in fiscal management and budgeting is mandatory.
  • Proven ability to develop and train elite collegiate athletes.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, administrative staff, and the public.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the sporting program.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I regulations and a record demonstrating compliance.
  • Ability and willingness to uphold UCLA’s policies on fiscal responsibility and ethical standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Valid California noncommercial Class C Driver’s License required at the time of hire and to be maintained.
  • Current certifications in first aid, CPR, and AED, with proof to be submitted within 30 days of hiring.

Additional Conditions

  • Employment depends on passing a background check, including a Live Scan background verification prior to beginning work.
  • Subject to the California DMV Pull Notice System to maintain satisfactory driving eligibility.
  • Position requires mandatory reporting of child abuse as defined under CANRA, with signing of acknowledgement.
  • The job involves up to 20% travel to support team competitions and activities.

Work Schedule & Employment Conditions

The work schedule will vary based on program demands. The position is covered under University policy 99.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. Benefits begin immediately upon employment and include a comprehensive package as outlined by UCLA’s Human Resources department.
