Role overview
HSBC is seeking an experienced professional to step into the Assistant Vice President, Training & Competency role with HSBC Life in Singapore. This position focuses on maintaining robust training governance, competency assurance, and sales advisory compliance while supporting business growth in a regulated financial services environment.
Key responsibilities
- Own the full Training & Competency delivery process from end to end.
- Coordinate annual competency assessments and carry out ongoing competency reviews.
- Check and validate educational credentials.
- Oversee mandatory learning and continuing professional development obligations, ensuring they remain aligned with applicable rules and regulations.
- Deliver training related to Training & Competency as well as supervisory duties.
- Refresh and maintain the Rules & Regulations and Ethics learning content for core CPD accreditation.
- Handle questions and follow-ups from internal and external stakeholders, including audit, compliance, risk, and regulators.
- Work with Compliance, Risk & Governance, and Channels teams to identify performance or conduct issues surfaced through customer complaints, BSC insights, and mystery shopping findings, and help close those gaps.
- Maintain sales advisory standards, including updates to the sales manual, and support the rollout of sales advisory systems that embed compliance standards while enabling commercial growth.
- Prepare and compile data for reporting and management updates.
Candidate profile
- Proven experience in Training & Competency within the financial planning sector.
- Relevant industry certifications such as M5, M9, M9A, HI, M8, or M8A.
- Strong written and verbal communication ability.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders.
