About the Role
SKIMS, a pioneering brand in underwear, loungewear, and shapewear, is searching for an Assistant Store Leader focused on People & Culture to join their La Cantera retail location in San Antonio, TX. This full-time onsite position offers $32.00 per hour and involves partnering directly with the Store Leader to maintain seamless store operations, achieve business targets, and consistently deliver excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and nurture a motivated, engaged team with a strong customer service orientation, coaching team members to bring enthusiasm and intention to every customer interaction.
- Manage all recruitment efforts including outreach, interviewing, hiring, and fostering a diverse pool of candidates aligned with SKIMS' values.
- Anticipate staffing requirements proactively and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates through networking and community engagement.
- Link recruitment and staffing plans to store KPIs and customer satisfaction outcomes, driving results through effective people management.
- Oversee onboarding processes ensuring new hires receive support and clear guidance for success.
- Handle staff scheduling and labor allocation to meet operational demands while upholding SKIMS’ service standards.
- Identify training opportunities, provide real-time coaching, and develop learning plans to support individual growth and career advancement.
- Administer performance management routines promoting a culture of transparent expectations, feedback, and constructive coaching.
- Manage employee relations with professionalism, confidentiality, and fairness to maintain a positive work environment.
- Spot and nurture leadership potential within the team, supporting succession planning and individual growth.
- Implement engagement initiatives that celebrate achievements, honor individuality, and strengthen team cohesion.
- Ensure adherence to SKIMS policies, procedures, and relevant labor laws, upholding integrity and consistency.
- Collaborate with store leadership and corporate People & Culture teams to enhance hiring strategies, onboarding, and learning resources.
- Exemplify inclusivity and emotional intelligence in all exchanges, fostering a culture that respects diverse perspectives and experiences.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a leadership role with strong focus on people management.
- Deep understanding of recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations practices.
- Proven success in building diverse talent pipelines through proactive networking and outreach.
- Experience managing sensitive employee relations with discretion and empathy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of customer service principles and connection between leadership and business results.
- Familiarity with employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and reduce legal risk.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and coach teams to meet business goals.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence to address interpersonal challenges fairly and objectively.
- Ability to develop trust and connection authentically with team members, leading with confidence and compassion.
- Passion for the SKIMS brand and ability to reflect its values and service standards in daily interactions.
- Capable of remaining physically active and accessible throughout shifts, including standing, bending, reaching, and lifting items up to 40 pounds.
- Open availability with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Preference for candidates who do not have intentions to be influencers.
