Key Duties
- Assist in collaborating with the Sports Program Coordinator to organize and implement the Special Olympics program throughout Montana.
- Support fundraising initiatives and identify funding avenues to facilitate athlete participation in events.
- Coordinate orientation and training sessions for volunteers, coaches, and staff involved in Special Olympics.
- Provide educational resources and guidance to athletes to help them achieve personal milestones.
- Help manage Special Olympics teams and practices across various Montana locations.
- Uphold athlete and team participation in all events and games statewide.
- Promote Therapeutic Recreation Services and the Special Olympics program within and beyond the organization.
- Deliver Therapeutic Recreation interventions to assigned clients promptly, adhering to organizational policies.
- Implement individual support plans informed by behavioral techniques and interventions, emphasizing emotional and behavioral needs under AWARE’s Unconditional Care Philosophy.
- Utilize computer skills for documentation, data entry, and navigating electronic medical record systems effectively.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Special Olympics, activity programming, staff development, disability awareness, sports fundamentals, and technical assistance.
- Exhibit strong communication abilities and cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Therapeutic Recreation, Human Services, Education, or a related discipline plus at least one year of relevant experience in care provision, case management, sports or recreation management, or education.
- Alternatively, candidates with two or more years of experience in programming for individuals with disabilities within human health settings will be considered.
- Applicants with five or more years of similar experience may also be eligible.
- Possession or willingness to obtain a valid Montana Driver's License with a clean driving record is required.
- Successful completion of criminal and protective services background checks is mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
