Job overview
The Assistant Resident Manager supports the day-to-day running of apartment buildings in Owen Sound, Ontario. This role combines cleaning, basic upkeep, administrative support, and tenant service to help keep the property operating smoothly and the units ready for occupancy.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain shared spaces throughout the building by sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing glass and chrome, treating carpet stains, and freshening the air.
- Help prepare vacated apartments for new residents by cleaning floors, bathrooms, surfaces, and windows so the unit is ready to rent.
- Carry out outdoor and seasonal work such as raking, tending flower beds, shoveling snow, applying salt to walkways, and handling minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Remove garbage from containers and keep the area around dumpsters clean and orderly.
- Support office and leasing administration by organizing paperwork for applications, leases, and move-in/move-out inspections, keeping the rental office tidy, assisting with rent collection and deposits, sending tenant notices, and handling emails, filing, and faxing.
- Assist with building operations by answering phones, tracking rental inquiries, and helping maintain strong tenant satisfaction through responsive customer service.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma is preferred, or three years of relevant cleaning experience.
- Comfort using computers and common tools such as Word, Excel, email, and web-based applications.
- Familiarity with regional policies, industry standards, municipal bylaws, and applicable provincial laws is considered an advantage, including the Residential Tenancy Act, Building Codes, Fire Codes, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs.
