Role Overview

The Assistant Psychologist role involves a significant contribution to patient recovery by supporting psychological assessments and tailor-made treatment plans, while upholding dignity, respect, and superior care standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified Psychologists in conducting professional psychological assessments, interventions, and delivering person-centred care.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients, co-facilitate group sessions, and provide low-intensity psychological interventions under supervision.
  • Collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team to incorporate psychological perspectives into patient care and recovery strategies.
  • Maintain precise clinical documentation, support outcome measurement, and engage in service evaluation, audits, and research projects.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and benefit from a supportive environment providing opportunities for continual professional growth.

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Psychology with at least a 2:1 classification; possession of Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) is preferred.
  • Experience in mental health, healthcare, or social care environments is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of psychological theories and evidence-based practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to foster positive therapeutic relationships and collaborate effectively within teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills capable of maintaining accurate records and managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • A compassionate and professional demeanor with dedication to ongoing learning and career development.
