About the Role
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board invites current employees to apply for the Assistant Psychologist role within the Gwent Attachment Service. This position focuses on supporting children's wellbeing through strengthening their close relationships by working systemically with families and care networks. The post is fixed term for up to seven months, ending 31 March 2027, and supports a team environment that values creativity and development opportunities aligned with clinical education programs.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Psychologists play an integral part in designing, implementing, and evaluating service activities. Key duties include co-creating and maintaining a comprehensive dataset used for evaluating program impact, conducting data analysis, and contributing to research publications as lead authors. The role requires collaboration in a supportive team focused on child and family psychological health.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must hold a Good Honours Degree in Psychology (First or Second Class) and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society. Postgraduate research qualifications and experience as an Assistant Psychologist, especially within health or social care settings and working with children, are advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, effective workload management, the ability to work independently using initiative, and preferably experience with IT tools such as statistical software and databases. Knowledge of child development and Attachment Theory will be beneficial.
