Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for an Assistant Project Manager to join the Water Sector team in Ireland. The position is suited to someone at the early stage of a project management career who wants to contribute to the delivery of water-related infrastructure work. The role may be based in Dublin or Galway.
What the role involves
You will support experienced project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders in delivering capital projects and programmes successfully. The focus will be on meeting deadlines, controlling costs, maintaining quality, and supporting strong client relationships.
The work spans a wide range of water-sector projects, including water resources, wastewater networks and treatment, water treatment and supply, flood mitigation, and other specialist areas. You may also have the chance to support client-side teams or work in a PMO-type capacity on a project or programme of work.
Key duties
Your responsibilities will include helping with planning and scheduling, monitoring budgets and milestones, identifying and managing risks, and ensuring work is carried out in line with safety, quality, and environmental expectations.
You will also contribute to stakeholder coordination, teamwork, and the overall successful delivery of projects and programmes with a strong focus on technical quality and client service.
What the employer is looking for
Applicants should already have experience in a relevant area such as project management, project coordination, or engineering. Postgraduate-level experience in the water, energy, or another utility/infrastructure environment is required.
The ideal candidate will be able to build effective working relationships, coordinate work to deadlines, take initiative, and stay self-motivated in a busy workplace. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work well within a team, are also important.
