Role Overview
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) position is located onsite in Queens at CUNY Queens College, supporting the Razran Hall Phase 3 Lab Renovation project managed by DASNY. This extensive renovation project involves a multi-million dollar upgrade including advanced laboratories, new office spaces, ADA-compliant restrooms, exterior landscaping, and installation of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain thorough project documentation and reporting using project management platforms like PMweb and Contract Manager to monitor deliverables and generate reports.
- Assist in financial management by reviewing payment requests, trade payments, change order proposals, and supporting contractor claim evaluations.
- Interpret and analyze architectural and engineering documents to help resolve onsite issues efficiently.
- Organize and participate in project meetings, prepare detailed minutes, and ensure tracking of follow-up actions.
- Coordinate daily onsite activities involving trades, testing agencies, and commissioning consultants to uphold quality per construction documents.
- Manage project closeout processes to ensure compliance with DASNY guidelines, including documentation completion and contract finalization.
Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Architectural, Engineering, or Construction Management sectors; public sector experience, especially with DASNY, SCA, or DDC, is highly regarded.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to evaluating budgets and proposals and exercising sound judgement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination among team members, clients, contractors, and code officials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management databases; familiarity with DASNY administrative protocols and labor reports preferred.

Additional Information
