General Overview
The Assistant Project Manager is integral to the successful execution and delivery of construction projects. This role involves performing quality assurance duties on ongoing construction sites to confirm adherence to project specifications. The position supports the Construction Management team by monitoring project progress, managing all documentation efficiently, and maintaining open and effective communication channels with clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality assurance inspections on construction sites, carefully reviewing drawings and specifications.
- Support construction management activities by tracking project progress and coordinating with contractors.
- Ensure contractor safety by leading daily safety meetings and promoting a secure working environment.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of construction progress according to project requirements.
- Handle and review Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals to facilitate smooth information flow.
- Perform regular site visits to assess ongoing construction work and relay updates to clients.
- Review and approve payments to contractors, ensuring they are processed accurately and promptly.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any issues or concerns that arise.
- Be prepared to work at heights using safety harnesses and access sites via ladders as necessary.
- Travel frequently to construction locations, estimated to be between 60% to 90% of the time.
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
- Strong skills in technical writing to produce clear and precise documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective client interactions.
- Comfortable working at heights with the proper use of safety equipment such as harnesses.
- Previous experience in construction or related areas, focusing on quality assurance.
- Knowledge of construction management workflows and progress tracking methodologies.
- Highly organized with the capability to manage multiple responsibilities and adhere to deadlines.
- Competence in utilizing construction management software and related tools.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively for site visits.
- Demonstrates a positive, team-oriented approach and strong dedication to workplace safety.
