Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager is a key contributor to the operational success within the Development and Construction Department. We seek a proactive learner eager to take on diverse responsibilities, resolve complex challenges, and meet project objectives independently with strong organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager throughout all project stages.
- Review project documents thoroughly to understand requirements.
- Create, update, and manage project schedules, including risk identification and communication.
- Understand and incorporate the CEQA process within project timelines.
- Lead client meetings and identify required follow-up actions.
- Interpret technical studies, jurisdictional requirements, approvals, and mitigation measures.
- Prioritize multiple project deliverables against competing deadlines effectively.
- Ensure accuracy in project descriptions, correcting inaccuracies when detected.
- Build and maintain strategic jurisdictional relationships to aid project success.
- Mentor and delegate tasks to junior staff such as coordinators.
- Coordinate task completion among cross-functional teams within the company.
- Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders during project lifecycles.
- Assist in managing contracts including subconsultant bidding and anticipate change orders.
- Exemplify EPD’s core values in all professional interactions.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in reading technical reports, construction/design drawings, and municipal codes.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with effective prioritization.
- Strong interpersonal skills focusing on communication and emotional intelligence.
- Enthusiasm for learning about development, construction, CEQA, and technical studies.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with development-related software tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or Bluebeam.
