Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager plays a pivotal role by supporting Project Managers in the execution of system integration projects. Key duties involve managing submittals, coordinating manpower and resources, handling change orders, monitoring project progress, and maintaining documentation accuracy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in forming project proposals by identifying timelines, budgets, methodologies, staff requirements, and resource allocation across project phases.
  • Collaborate with the documentation team to prepare and organize all pertinent submittal documents.
  • Procure parts, supplies, and technical instrumentation aligned with project specifications and system design.
  • Serve as an intermediary between departments and oversee the daily coordinated operations for assigned projects.
  • Maintain comprehensive project records and incorporate updates reflecting change orders.
  • Engage in review meetings with contractors and client representatives.
  • Analyze change orders to adjust pricing, ensuring profitability and budget compliance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project status reports for management, contractors, clients, and engineering teams.
  • Manage the Job Hazard Analysis documentation.
  • Represent the Project Manager in meetings when necessary.

Candidate Profile

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, project management, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three years full-time experience in architecture, pre-construction, construction, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Capability to implement technological solutions in project planning and execution.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with industry tools such as estimating software (e.g., RS Means), scheduling applications (e.g., MS Project), CAD or BIM platforms, visual communication tools (e.g., Bluebeam), and project tracking/document control software (e.g., Procore).
  • Strong grasp of programming, design, and construction fundamentals.
  • Prior exposure to industrial automation projects.
  • Experience conducting team and client meetings, generating RFIs, action item lists, and meeting minutes.
  • Comfort using customer portals like Procore for project documentation.
  • Knowledge of Controls Systems including Rockwell hardware and AVEVA software.
  • Understanding of Datacenter BMS and EPMS equipment.
  • Experience collaborating with electrical installation contractors.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 annually.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work settings and physical expectations vary but typically include moderate noise conditions, occasional exposure to outdoor weather, and the possibility of working at heights or near airborne particles and electrical components. Physical activities may involve standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and use of hands, arms, and vocal communication. Some roles may require lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds. Vision acuity for near and distant tasks, plus focusing ability, may be necessary.
