About the Organization
Welthungerhilfe is among Germany’s largest and most established private organizations working in development cooperation and humanitarian aid. The organization operates independently of religious and political influence and is guided by ethical principles, innovation, and a commitment to becoming more data-driven and human-centered. Its guiding vision is “Zero Hunger on a Healthy Planet.”
Role Overview
Welthungerhilfe is hiring an Assistant Policy and External Relations for its Bonn office. The role is designed to start as soon as possible and is initially limited to a two-year fixed-term contract, with a strong possibility of renewal.
In this position, you will support the Policy Department with coordination, organization, communication, and administrative work. The role helps keep internal workflows running smoothly and strengthens communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, refine, and finalize letters, briefing notes, texts, and meeting minutes in both German and English, including careful proofreading and language polishing.
- Monitor internal workflows, deadlines, and appointments, while also assisting with the preparation and tracking of political processes and events.
- Organize and follow up on internal meetings, including taking minutes and maintaining the team calendar.
- Maintain contact records and mailing lists, and coordinate communication with political stakeholders and partner organizations.
- Support internal reporting activities and coordination tasks.
- Assist with invoice coding, finance-related administration, and other general administrative duties.
- Upload and maintain relevant unit information on the intranet and keep the associated pages up to date.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant brings several years of relevant experience in administration, organization, and coordination, preferably gained in international cooperation or political environments. The role calls for excellent coordination skills, strong organizational ability, and confidence in handling pressure and tight deadlines.
You should be highly proficient in MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, and have hands-on experience with MS Teams and Miro. A willingness to develop data-related skills and apply data-informed methods in daily work is important. You must also have outstanding written and spoken German, along with very good English communication skills.
What the Organization Offers
- Competitive and equitable pay based on a transparent compensation structure.
- Flexible working options that help maintain a healthy work-life balance.
- A modern, agile workplace that actively supports digitalization and innovation.
- Learning and development opportunities for both personal and professional growth.
- A collaborative, diverse team environment focused on making a positive impact.
