Job description

Role overview

This position sits within the Outpatient Department and is part of the Nursing function. The Assistant Nurse supports physicians and registered nurses in providing safe, efficient, and patient-focused care while helping keep the clinic environment clean, organized, and compliant. The role reports to the Medical Manager / Registered Nurse and follows a 48-hour work week.

Qualifications and licensure

  • A diploma in Nursing or Healthcare Assistance from a recognized institute, college, or university is required.
  • A DHA Eligibility Letter or DHA License for Assistant Nurse is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • A valid certification or license from the country of origin may also be needed, where applicable.
  • At least 1 year of experience working as an Assistant Nurse or Healthcare Assistant in a clinic or hospital is preferred.
  • Experience in outpatient clinics, wellness centers, aesthetic facilities, or similar healthcare settings is an advantage.

Core purpose of the role

  • Support nurses and doctors in delivering safe, effective patient care.
  • Contribute to patient comfort and smooth clinic operations.
  • Help maintain cleanliness, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team and support quality improvement efforts.
  • Represent the clinic’s vision and mission through professional conduct and care delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist doctors and nurses during consultations, examinations, and procedures.
  • Set up treatment rooms, consultation rooms, instruments, and consumables before and after use.
  • Measure and document vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
  • Provide direct support to patients during procedures and basic care activities.
  • Assist with IV preparation and clinical procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and clinical areas according to protocol.
  • Monitor stock levels of medical consumables and flag shortages or expired supplies.
  • Support specimen collection and handling as instructed.
  • Escort patients within the clinic when needed and help them navigate care processes.
  • Follow all infection control, patient safety, and clinic procedures consistently.
  • Escalate incidents, hazards, and unusual situations to the supervisor without delay.
  • Keep patient records and other documentation accurate and up to date as directed.
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow and support day-to-day clinic operations.
  • Take part in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Attend required training sessions and competency development programs.
  • Move between clinic areas when operational needs require it.
  • Carry out additional duties within the role’s scope as assigned by management.

  • Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe behavior promptly.
  • Use PPE and medical equipment correctly in line with procedures.
  • Join OHS trainings, drills, and workshops when scheduled.

Reporting and interactions

The role reports to the Medical Manager / Registered Nurse. Internal interaction is with all employees as needed. External interaction is mainly with patients, while also ensuring compliance with the expectations of regulatory bodies.

Working conditions

This is a full-time onsite position in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The schedule is 48 hours per week.
