Role Overview
The Assistant Night Manager oversees smooth hotel operations during night hours, providing leadership in the absence of the Night Manager. This involves warmly greeting late arrivals, completing financial audits, managing overnight security, and addressing any issues that arise. The role suits an experienced night auditor aiming to move into leadership or a current Assistant Night Manager who thrives working independently at night.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalized, warm welcomes to guests arriving late and gracious farewells to early departures, embodying QT's hospitality standards.
- Take full charge of hotel night operations when the Night Manager is not present, ensuring guest, staff, and property safety and security.
- Perform nightly audits including reconciling transactions from hotel outlets, posting daily revenues, producing financial reports, and managing accurate cashiering per hotel guidelines.
- Verify guest reservation details, prepare departure documentation, and seamlessly coordinate with the Front Office team during shift handover.
- Conduct frequent hotel walkthroughs for security and safety, swiftly addressing any identified risks or hazards.
- Guide, coach, and support the overnight team, fostering high grooming standards and maintaining a positive, guest-focused culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous night audit or Assistant Night Manager hotel experience is mandatory; experienced night auditors aspiring to leadership will be considered.
- Possession of a valid New Zealand driver’s license and a current Manager’s Certificate for liquor licensing is compulsory.
- Demonstrated proficiency with PMS systems, notably Opera Cloud, is highly desired.
- Confidence and ability to independently manage night operations and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Strong financial skills with experience completing audits, managing cashier operations, and generating accurate reports.
- A professional, warm demeanor that creates comfort for guests at any hour.
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Work Ethic and Values
- Embraces the Daymaker philosophy, valuing attention to detail and humility.
- Demonstrates resilience, a solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to stay composed and act swiftly.
- Exhibits hands-on leadership and an egalitarian approach, leading by example.
- Adopts an owner’s mentality, acting responsibly and ethically even when unobserved.
Employee Benefits
- Enjoys 50% discounts on dining and accommodation across EVT hotels including QT, Rydges, Atura, and LyLo.
- Access to $2 movie tickets and discounts for Gold Class, Moonlight Cinema, and Candy Bar.
- Seasonal benefits related to Thredbo resort.
- Opportunities for rapid career progression within the hotel and entertainment network.
- Paid parental leave and chances to participate in community volunteering.
Application Process
Candidates are invited to submit a CV and cover letter. EVT encourages applications from diverse backgrounds and reviews submissions on a rolling basis. This opportunity is ideal for individuals ready to become pivotal Daymakers at QT Auckland and make lasting contributions to people, communities, and the environment.
