Job description
Overview
This full-time exempt position, located in Los Angeles, CA, is a temporary transitional role lasting 2-3 years designed to equip and train a minister for future leadership within the English-speaking pastoral staff team. The role involves both operational and strategic assistance to the English Lead Pastor or their designated supervisor, supporting various ministries and taking increased responsibility in designated areas.
Work Schedule
The position requires availability on Sundays and four weekdays, with frequent Saturdays for various church events and activities.
Responsibilities
- Support the designated supervisor at both operational and strategic levels.
- Assume leadership and accountability in assigned ministry areas as directed.
- Pursue continuous development in areas identified for additional training or experience.
- Attend all required meetings called by the English Lead Pastor or supervisor.
- Participate actively as a contributing member of the pastoral staff team.
- Assist in preaching during worship services.
- Perform other ministry duties as assigned by the designated supervisor or English Lead Pastor.
Working Relationships
The role entails daily interactions with church office staff, maintenance personnel, administrative teams, elected or appointed committees, lay workers, and occasional contact with external parties representing the church. Professionalism and spiritual integrity must be maintained in all communications and contacts.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in divinity or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Prior ministerial experience in a North American church is preferred.
- Previous experience in ministry roles is advantageous.
Skills and Requirements
- Competence in teaching, coaching, leadership, and preaching.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- The ability to operate computers and standard office equipment.
- Valid driver’s license preferred, with ability to travel to visit members, participants, and attend various functions.
- Capable of fulfilling essential pastoral staff duties.
Certification
Ordination is not mandatory for this position.

- Adaptable learner who keeps pace with evolving ministry methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and empathy.
- Understanding of Chinese immigrant and Asian-American cultural contexts.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary ranges from $65,000 to $71,000, accompanied by a 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching, medical, dental, vision coverage, and paid time off.
Additional Information
