Role Overview
The Assistant Merchandising Manager for Women's Leathergoods plays a vital role in ensuring smooth merchandise flow by coordinating allocation and collaborating closely with Customer Service, Worldwide Merchandising, Corporate Retail, and Demand Planning teams. This position supports Merchandising Managers in inventory control through timely reporting and actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor monthly deliveries and communicate with Merchandising and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure planned displays are effectively executed.
- Manage stock-to-sales ratios and initiate prompt replenishment via consolidation strategies.
- Collaborate with inventory planning to allocate new products effectively, prioritizing key stores to stimulate sales and sell-through.
- Use sales data analysis to guide stock movement and balance inventory levels by store.
- Ensure sufficient stock for floor moves, flagship store openings, and relocations.
- Produce weekly reports punctually and analyze data to recommend necessary actions to Merchandising Managers.
- Conduct month-end analyses, pricing reviews, and other special reports as required.
- Prepare final sales reports to assist buy preparation.
- Support in-store initiatives through collaboration with visual merchandising, maximizing product exposure and floor utilization.
- Maintain regular store visits (minimum three days per quarter) to build relationships with Store Directors and Client Advisors, and offer strategic merchandising support.
- Work with cross-functional teams such as Brand Engagement, PR, Wholesale, and Visual Merchandising to align merchandising efforts.
- Motivate sales teams via ongoing product knowledge sharing through booklets, training sessions, and selling events.
- Provide consistent communication regarding new product launches and business trends to retail teams.
- Contribute to seasonal buying campaigns, including preparing tools and analyses, entering orders, and summarizing final buys, with possible international travel up to four times annually.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years in retail, luxury retail, or service sectors; prior roles in Merchandising Assistance, Coordination or Assistant Buying are essential.
- Knowledge: Strong grasp of core buying and merchandising metrics and key performance indicators.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Fashion, Business, or related field preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel on short notice and work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
- Work Authorization: Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
