Position Overview
Exim Bank Tanzania is recruiting a qualified professional for the role of Assistant Manager in the Supply Chain department, based in Dar es Salaam. This position supports the expansion and management of the Bank's Supply Chain Financing (SCF) services within Corporate and Institutional Banking. The role reports directly to the Head of Transactional Banking and focuses on developing anchor-led financing programs, onboarding suppliers and distributors, credit structuring, and overseeing effective program implementation and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and onboard major corporate anchors with established supply chain networks across sectors such as FMCG, manufacturing, telecommunications, agriculture, and trading.
- Assist in designing and structuring Supply Chain Finance programs, including supplier/vendor financing, dealer/distributor financing, invoice discounting, purchase order financing, and payables/receivables financing.
- Analyze value chains to uncover financing opportunities within anchor ecosystems and facilitate acquisition of new suppliers and distributors through SCF programs.
- Draft policy notes detailing program eligibility, limits, pricing, tenure, documents, settlement processes, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate operational workflows among Relationship Managers, Credit, Operations, IT departments, anchors, and suppliers/distributors for smooth program execution.
- Support digitization initiatives by onboarding stakeholders onto SCF platforms and streamlining trade and invoice flows.
- Prepare and assist in credit proposals for anchor corporations and program approvals aligned with internal credit policies.
- Help develop supplier and distributor performance scorecards based on transactional data, behavioral patterns, and anchor data.
- Monitor portfolio health, track arrears and concentration risks, escalate warning signs timely, and participate in regular portfolio reviews and reporting.
- Maintain strong relationships with anchor corporate procurement and finance teams and collaborate with Legal on finalizing contractual agreements for programs and suppliers/distributors.
- Lead supplier and distributor onboarding and training activities to build awareness and ensure smooth operations.
- Function as an internal subject matter expert for SCF products, supporting colleagues and stakeholders.
- Engage with industry events, trade forums, fintech partners, and ecosystem participants to improve SCF delivery, customer experience, and process efficiencies.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is essential.
- Advanced qualifications such as MBA, ACCA, or CFA are advantageous.
- Experience of 3 to 5 years in corporate banking, transactional banking, trade finance, or supply chain finance roles is required.
- Sound technical expertise in credit analysis, trade documentation, and working capital financing products is necessary.
Work Schedule and Location
This full-time role is based onsite in Dar es Salaam with standard working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including additional hours when workload demands.
