Role Overview and Department Purpose
Under the leadership of the Deputy Executive Director of the National University Heart Centre Singapore (NUHCS), the research administrative team offers grant management support to Principal Investigators (PIs) with government and industry funded projects. The role involves autonomous management of assigned healthcare research grant portfolios to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial claims and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, verification, and submission of grant claims for government-funded healthcare research grants (e.g., NMRC, MOH), ensuring all documentation adheres to funder requirements.
- Provide advisory services to PIs and research teams on grant financial policies, allowable expenditures, and budget utilization in line with approved grant conditions.
- Conduct thorough reviews and reconciliations of grant expenditures against budgets and financial system records, identifying risks, variances, and recommending corrective measures as needed.
- Serve as a liaison coordinating between PIs, research coordinators, Finance, HR, and Procurement to resolve grant-related issues; escalate complex matters appropriately.
- Maintain comprehensive grant registers, claim trackers, and compliance documentation to support audits, grantor reviews, and institutional monitoring.
- Contribute to continuous workflow improvements in grant administration and mentor junior team members where applicable.
- Perform additional departmental duties as necessary to support organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, life sciences, business administration, finance, accounting, or related disciplines.
- Prior experience managing government-funded healthcare research grants is an advantage.
- Deep knowledge of research grant financial governance and compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with grant and financial management software.
- Ability to work independently within a regulated research setting.
