Job Overview
The role involves managing purchasing activities with a focus on electrical materials for construction and industrial projects. The candidate will handle supplier communications, negotiate terms, and oversee purchase order processing to ensure prompt delivery of required items.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain communication with both local and international suppliers to obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and finalize order specifics.
- Create, issue, and monitor purchase orders to guarantee timely procurement of electrical components.
- Identify and source dependable vendors for materials like cables, breakers, switches, panels, Copper Busbars, Aluminium sheets, and GI sheets.
- Collaborate with storekeepers to track inventory levels and prevent stock shortages.
- Keep thorough documentation including quotations, local purchase orders, delivery notes, invoices, and supplier agreements.
- Verify received materials comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Construct price comparison sheets aiding procurement decision-making.
- Follow up on logistics by monitoring shipments, coordinating deliveries, and resolving any delays with suppliers or logistics providers.
- Support vendor assessments by evaluating supplier performance in terms of quality, pricing, and reliability.
- Coordinate internally with project engineers, the accounts department, and warehouse team to streamline procurement activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Good understanding of electrical products relevant to construction, MEP, or industrial sectors.
- Effective communication skills to engage professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Basic negotiation capabilities to achieve favorable pricing.
- Competency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word) and experience with ERP or procurement software.
- Keen attention to detail for precise documentation and order monitoring.
- Strong time management skills to efficiently process multiple purchase requests.
- Educational background preferably including a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Between 1 and 3 years of procurement experience, ideally within electrical or construction industries.
