Role overview

Hegen is looking for an Assistant Manager, People & Culture to join its People & Workplace Experience team in Singapore. This position plays an important part in delivering people initiatives that improve the employee journey, support a productive workforce and contribute to the organisation’s growth.

The role partners closely with the department head and spans people analytics, payroll, HR operations, employee engagement, talent programmes and employer branding. It suits an HR professional who enjoys working with both data and people, and who can turn insights into practical improvements for employees and the business.

This is a broad, hands-on position for someone who can balance day-to-day execution with process improvement in a fast-moving environment.

People analytics and workforce insights

  • Create and update workforce dashboards, reports and people metrics covering headcount, turnover, absenteeism, engagement, hiring effectiveness and movement of talent.
  • Review workforce patterns and convert findings into useful recommendations for planning and decision-making.
  • Assist with compensation comparisons, benefits reviews and market research.
  • Measure how well people programmes and initiatives are performing using workforce data and employee feedback.
  • Use analytics to recommend actions that enhance employee experience, workforce effectiveness and wider business results.
  • Safeguard the accuracy, consistency and governance of people data, reporting and HR systems.

Payroll, people operations and compliance

  • Oversee and coordinate payroll processing from start to finish, with attention to accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
  • Support benefits administration, employee insurance schemes and other people-related processes.
  • Handle employee lifecycle activities such as onboarding, offboarding, internal movements, confirmations and performance cycles.
  • Maintain employee records, HR documents and people data in line with internal policies and legal requirements.
  • Assist with audits, statutory reporting and compliance tasks.
  • Review existing people processes, policies and workflows and improve them for efficiency, scalability and a better employee experience.
  • Support the administration, optimisation and adoption of HR systems, tools and platforms.
  • Look for opportunities to automate, simplify and continuously improve people operations.

Employee experience and people programmes

  • Act as a main contact for employees for people-related questions, programmes and initiatives.
  • Support performance management and employee development efforts together with the department head.
  • Lead and help shape engagement, employee listening and culture-building activities that promote connection, wellbeing and belonging.
  • Assist with employee relations issues and workplace concerns, escalating more complex cases when needed.
  • Promote Hegen’s employee experience pillars, including HegenCares, HegenCelebrates and HegenVitality.
  • Support internal communications and initiatives that help strengthen engagement and company culture.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organisation and help create a positive, high-performing workplace.

Talent programmes and employer branding

  • Drive internship programmes, workforce development efforts and relevant government grant opportunities.
  • Support employer branding and talent attraction activities, including careers content, recruitment campaigns and candidate experience improvements.
  • Assist with recruitment and hiring activities when required.
  • Coordinate learning, training and workforce development opportunities where relevant.
  • Work with educational institutions, community organisations and external vendors to support talent and workforce development initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources, People & Culture, People Operations or a related area.
  • Hands-on experience across key HR areas such as people operations, employee lifecycle management, employee engagement and payroll administration.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to build workforce reports, dashboards and people insights for decision support.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and practical experience using HRIS platforms and managing employee data.
  • Experience supporting payroll processing, benefits administration and HR operations with strong attention to accuracy and compliance.
  • Knowledge of compensation benchmarking, workforce reporting and people analytics.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across the organisation.
  • Proactive, resourceful and solution-focused, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
